Hugh Hefner, founder of Playboy magazine passed away yesterday. The 91 year old was said to have died peacefully and of natural causes surrounded by family at his home. Although Hefner sold the Playboy Mansion to Pabst Blue Ribbon heir Daren Metropoulos for $100 million back in August of 2016, the sale had one condition — Hefner could live in the mansion without the new owner’s meddling until Hefner died.
Hefner once said, “Life is too short to be living someone else’s dream” and what a dream he lived.
Earlier this year Hef’s son Cooper took over the magazine bringing a new fresh edge. He said, “My father lived an exceptional and impactful life as a media and cultural pioneer and a leading voice behind some of the most significant social and cultural movements of our time in advocating free speech, civil rights and sexual freedom. He defined a lifestyle and ethos that lie at the heart of the Playboy brand, one of the most recognizable and enduring in history.”
It is said that Hef’s wife Crystal will be taken care of though his $43 million estate will all be split between his children.
